why hearing health?

  • Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) and Tinnitus can occur at any age and is almost always 100% preventable
  • Hearing loss is the third most common chronic physical condition in the United States, twice as prevalent as diabetes or cancer
  • Approximately 50 million Americans are affected by Tinnitus (ringing or buzzing sensation of the ear)
  • On a daily basis 22 million Americans are exposed to hazardous sound levels in the workplace
  • Research shows that people with untreated hearing loss are at 2-5 times greater risk of dementia
  • 1.1 billion teenagers and young adults are at risk of permanent and preventable hearing loss due to recreational noise exposure
  • 5.2 million youth (ages 6-18) in the United States suffer from hearing loss attributed to hazardous noise exposure

Mission: Our mission is to reduce the incidence of noise-induced hearing loss and tinnitus by advancing evidence-based hearing conservation education, motivation, training, and increasing access to hearing healthcare.

Through evidence-based programs delivered in schools, workplaces, and community settings across the United States, we aim to improve lifelong hearing health and overall well-being by empowering individuals with knowledge, awareness, self-efficacy, and real life strategies.

Vision: A world where preventable noise-induced hearing loss and tinnitus no longer exist, and every person has the knowledge and tools to protect, preserve, and care for their hearing health.
